A Note From Jim

👋 I haven't sent out this newsletter in two years 😰 So about 17 minutes if you're on that planet 🤣 if that's the case, sorry for all the email 😬 (hey it was this or a SpongeBob "two years later" joke. This took more work because I'm bad at math, so it felt more valuable.)

After two years, CityStrides has ~20k more people doing ~10k more activities per day in ~8k more cities across an additional 53 counties. Our total stats are huge:
Activities:        83,439,226
Completed Streets: 6,533,132
Cities:            97,481
Countries:         195

🤯 Way to go! 👏

If you're in/near Chicago at 10am on June 14, you're invited to join Joabe Barbosa on his run to complete Chicago. The run is going from Oak Street to Ida B. Welles Drive down Michigan Avenue. He'll be sharing more details as we get closer to the date.

Joabe has been running Chicago while working through his doctoral programme in clinical psychology. This year, he reached a major milestone: applying for his doctoral internship, a required step to complete his degree. Unfortunately, he did not match - it's a tough situation with not enough internship spots available for the number of interested students. As an international student, Joabe now faces uncertainty regarding his visa status and likely needs to return to Brasil while preparing to reapply. It's a painful blow to someone who loves and appreciates the city so much.

As of right now, Joabe has 286 streets left to complete. He's put in such a massive effort - starting in August 2024, he's done 387 runs covering 4621.78 miles.
🤔 In the time it took me to send this one email, Joabe finished 86% of Chicago. 😳

As always, you can reply to any email you receive from CityStrides - your reply goes straight to my inbox. Try it out! Reply and let me know one thing you wish CityStrides did better.

Have fun out there!

Social

Instagram Collaborations

If you're posting on Instagram, add CityStrides as collaborator. I can't travel the world and go for a run with you all, but I enjoy seeing what you see. While I can share your posts, those go into stories & aren't easy (or impossible) for people to check out later.

Merchandise

T-shirts, moisture-wicking shirts, hoodies, stickers, magnets, and pins - start at the list of designs, then decide what you want it on. You're not limited to just the CityStrides logo any more, either. Most badges are available in the store, as well as some custom t-shirt designs.
You can also create your own - Build your own shirt to celebrate completing your city!

Upcoming Promos

Honestly - if you're thinking about buying any merch, don't buy it full price. There are sales every month that will save you some money.
